How much will the doctor consultations cost?
The only cost for members for online doctor appointments and medical consultations is the monthly access fee of $19.95 for families of up to 8 people or single members for $12.95.
Do I talk to "real doctors"?
Yes. Members only talk with doctors, who are state-licensed family practitioners, primary care physicians, internists and pediatricians. Members will be connected with a licensed doctor licensed practicing in their state when they request a consultation.
Is Access a Doctor for emergency situations?
Please dial 911 if you are having a medical emergency. Access a Doctor is only for non-emergency medical matters. Members should not use it if they are experiencing a medical emergency. Access a Doctor is not intended to replace a member's primary care physician.
What type of doctor or specialist can I speak with?
Members talk with doctors. Our doctors are licensed in pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine. Doctors provide guidance on the types of specialists members should see.
How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?
Access a Doctor does not dispense prescription drugs. Prescriptions are submitted electronically or by phone to the pharmacy of the member's choice.
May I get prescriptions?
Yes. Prescriptions are not guaranteed. Doctors recommend the best treatment. They will submit your prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice. Doctors will never issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA and certain other drugs, which may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. These include, but are not limited to, antidepressant drugs such as Cymbalta, Prozac, Percocet, Oxycodone and Zoloft. Non-therapeutic drugs, such as Viagra and Cialis, are not prescribed by network doctors.
May I use it for my family?
The primary member and 7 immediate family members or household members will have access to online doctor appointments and medical consultations.
Is my electronic health record kept private?
Health records are kept private and secure in order to protect members' personal information. Only members determine who sees the information in their records.
May I be turned down for a pre-existing condition?
No. Members are not denied because of pre-existing conditions. Access a Doctor is not insurance.
May I get a consultation outside of the United States?
No. Medical consultations and online doctor appointments are not available outside of the United States and Puerto Rico.
May I get support in Spanish?
Yes. Members may choose to receive the telemedicine experience in Spanish.
